London 2012 Olympics Handball Arena, sports architecture, UK – design by Make Architects + PTW and Arup – now a multi-sports venue with retractable seating
An invited design competition was organized by the city of Helsinki to produce a design for this challenging site. ALA was selected as the winner in March 2007.
The site was formerly occupied by a car park and is set within a cluster of public buildings, including the justice department, federal government finance departments, Brieljant youth centre and the town museum and art gallery.
