Haiko Cornelissen is a Dutch architect with an office in Amsterdam and New York. After working for OMA and Steven Holl, Haiko opened his own office in 2011 to work on design, architectural and urban projects around the world.
The competition entry places a contemporary, down-to-earth public building at the heart of the metropolis, with a strong reference to the Finnish building tradition. The design shows a building entirely made of Finnish pinewood.
This is a house in the northern part of Hyogo Prefecture for a couple and their two children. The construction site is a part of a place surrounded by mountains and the sky is overcast most of the days.
