Beijing Cityvision Competition is the sixth international competition launched by Cityvision and it’s part of the annual programme 2014, Evolution: the architecture of future mankind.

This architecture competition aims to provide a future vision of Beijing perceived as a Supercity that will absorb the best features from other cities, assuming them as her own, and then reinvent itself in the form of a new model.

The School of Art & Art History at the University of Iowa, which also opened in September 2006, is awarded for successfully negotiating its site at the crossing of two orthogonal paths in the campus, at a place where the city grid is interrupted by natural landscape in the form of a small lagoon and a limestone bluff.

Busan Opera, BOH Korea Design Contest

Design: Peter Ruge Architekten. A thin skin, protecting from the sun and water connects the two buildings, leaving in between a pathway open for the public. This supports Busan’s natural flow from mountain to the ocean, creating a good harmony between urban space and architecture.
The new landmark of Busan’s Opera House reflects the natural and urban energies and connects it to the performing arts spaces of “Madangnoli”, at the Mountain Plaza and the Sunrise Plaza, an urban harmony with a folk performance played by ordinary people.

America’s Cup Pavilion Valencia Building

David Chipperfield Architects’ ‘Veles e Vents’ building in Valencia temporarily became ‘The Paddock Club’ – the central hospitality venue for the European Grand Prix, in 2008. Built as the hospitality building for the 2007 America’s Cup, and located at the centre of the Valencia Street Circuit.

Architect: STUDIO TWIST. The Library of Kunming University of Science and Technology is regarded as the symbolic center of the university campus.
The building form resembles stacked cubes on a plinth with bi-axial symmetry and a vertical central atrium. The central circular atrium serves as the spiritual center as well as the main vertical circulation of the library.

Spark’s sales gallery is located adjacent to Nanjing South Railway Station: the two storey building showcases the broad spectrum of residential and commercial space available at Vanke’s mixed use development.

Conceived as an abstracted reflection of railway track geometry this bold building is shaped by functional and conceptual considerations.

Architect: Mazzanti Arquitectos, Bogotá, Colombia. This stunning building is located on one of the hillsides of the city that have been affected by harsh violence since the 80´s because of several drug traffic networks that operate within its perimeter.
It is part of the government’s social master plan program that aims to give equal economic and social opportunities to the population.

Sarpi Border Checkpoint – Georgia Building

Sarpi Border Checkpoint in Georgia

Design: J. MAYER H. Architects. The customs checkpoint is situated at the Georgian border to Turkey, at the shore of the Black Sea. With its cantilevering terraces, the tower is used as a viewing platform, with multiple levels overlooking the water and the steep part of the coastline.
The building welcomes visitors to Georgia, representing the progressive upsurge of the country

Design: Foster + Partners ; Co-architects: Smith Group Inc. Now designated as a National Historic Landmark, the former United States Patent Building building was rescued from impending demolition in 1958 by President Eisenhower

ViILA NM New York, UN Studio American house

ViILA NM New York

Design: UNStudio Architects. Sadly on February 5th 2008 this family summerhouse in Catskills, Upstate New York was destroyed by fire. The house was a simple rectilinear form floating above landscape, thus evoking seminal modern houses by Mies van er Rohe (Farnsworth) and Philip Johnson in America. The residential building was realised in April 2007.

Bennetts Associates architects appointed by the University of Cambridge to design its new Student Services building at the New Museum Site. The project will consist of part new build and part renovation of existing listed buildings.

One of Britain’s leading architects will visit Nottingham Trent University when it hosts a gala awards ceremony for the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) East Midlands.

Sir Michael Hopkins CBE – who was knighted for services to architecture – will along with his wife, Lady Patty, be guest of honour at the event on 15 May.
