Contemporary Hollywood House
Refined materiality contrast the site’s lush canyon landscape. Sitting upon a stone plinth, the 60’ long residence appears partially buried into the hillside. The longitudinal form optimizes the site’s canyon and city views to the southeast.
Environmental and financial concerns with regard to minimizing grading, excavation, and retention walls, also strongly informed the residence’s occupation of the site.
Sustainable site strategies such as solar orientation / solar power, natural cross ventilation, water reclamation & indigenous landscaping were important design considerations.
