Aedas Cycle to Cannes – 2010 Programme

Event by Aedas Architects Ltd with Cycle to Cannes

Aedas Architects Ltd has teamed with Cycle to Cannes (C2C) to launch The Aedas Cycle to Cannes programme for 2010. The 6-day, 1500 km cycling endurance event brings together the property industry with the aim to increase contributions and awareness to five core charities: LandAid, Tom’s Trust, Sarah Matheson Trust, Article 25 and The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

As a leader in sustainable architectural design initiatives, Aedas has teamed with C2C to leverage a series of highly sustainable events that will promote cycling and sustainable forms of transport. C2C which promotes London businesses at the 2010 MIPIM property conference, will be the first event, with subsequent rides supporting the 2010 British Council of Offices and the 2012 Olympics in London. The practice hopes to help C2C grow at an international level and to develop the rides for the property industry.

The ride, which started in 2006 with just 17 riders, has grown to more than 60 riders who have raised nearly £750,000 for charities. Funded by the generosity of the property industry, The Aedas Cycle to Cannes event hopes to increase donations and have set a goal of £900,000 by the end of 2010. Aedas’ Associate Director John Nordon notes “we are delighted to be a part of such a worthwhile cause and hope to exceed all expectations.”

C2C Nick Hanmer notes “it is a lifetime experience – the pro style backup and support means this is the closest an amateur rider will get to feeling and riding like a professional.” After completing the ride, cyclists – all professionals in development, architecture or planning – change their lycra for their business suits and take part in the MIPIM Property Fair.

C2C are currently recruiting cyclist for the ride to MIPIM and will later host a series of events as a lead up to the conference. Further information can be found at www.cycle2cannes.org.
