New Courtyard Houses in Roskilde

Right from the very start of the design process, the project faced a serious challenge: a very, very long and narrow site with very poor opportunity for daylight in each dwelling. Therefore architects Conm + Kallesø came up with the idea of having a central placed ”light” courtyard in each of the four dwellings of the project providing all the main rooms with daylight.

Courtyard Houses

Besides from providing the main rooms with daylight, the courtyard also gives the inhabitants a good contact with the outdoors via the two huge sliding glass doors – one at the kitchen and one at the livingroom.

Courtyard Houses

The four dwellings of the projects expands from 135 sqm to about 85 sqm making it a project which may hold very different inhabitants in terms of income, education, couples with or without children, singles etc.

Courtyard Houses

Just north of the project Conm + Kallesø have placed the parking area, common areas and renovation shed, storage etc.

The project is to be build in masonry and painted white and with teak window frames. The common area is conceived as one big wooden deck also in teak wood.
