ASCER (the Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers’ Association) invites entries for the 18th edition of the Tile of Spain Architecture, Interior Design and Final Degree Project Awards. Projects can be located anywhere in the world, but must make significant use of Spanish ceramics and must have been completed between January 2017 and October 2019.
After many years of encouraging, discovering and rewarding the creative use of Spanish tiles, the awards have built a respected reputation within the industry. The panel of judges is made up of internationally-acclaimed professionals working in the architecture and design sectors.
Established to foster and promote the appreciation of Spanish ceramic tiles in architecture and interior design (both in Spain and internationally), the Tile of Spain Awards are sponsored by Endesa, Weber-Saint Gobain, the Port Authority of Valencia and CESCE.

The Awards have a prize fund of 39,000 euros distributed among three categories. The two main categories are Architecture and Interior Design, each with a cash prize of 17,000 euros. The primary entry requirement is that each project must feature ceramic tiles manufactured in Spain. The third category is the Final Degree Project, aimed at students of architecture and offering a cash prize of 5,000 euros. The panel of judges may also award two special mentions in each category.
In last year’s awards, the prize for the architecture category went to ‘Palma’s Intermodal Station’ by Joan Miquel Seguí Colomar. First prize in the interior design category went to the project entitled ‘House Overlooking the Sea’ by Xavier Martí and Lucía Ferrater. Images, blueprints and reports of last year’s winning projects can be downloaded from the awards’ website.
Registration is open now with a project submission deadline of 24th October 2019. Entry is free. For further information visit www.tileofspainawards.com or contact [email protected]
