The British Pavilion at the 14th International Architecture Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia. The British Council will present the exhibition A Clockwork Jerusalem in the British Pavilion, responding to the theme ‘Absorbing Modernity: 1914-2014’ set for the national pavilions by director Rem Koolhaas.
Make Architects complete its first residential building in Hong Kong: Dunbar Place. The 23-storey project was designed for Swire Properties, who was involved in the development of the property, and comprises 53 apartments.
The first phase of the newly expanded Queens Museum designed by Grimshaw is now complete, signaling a new era for the historic New York City building and the surrounding community. Located in Flushing Meadows, Corona Park, Queens, the Museum has now doubled in size to 105,000 sqft.
Design: MVRDV. The city of Rotterdam, De Verre Bergen Foundation and Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and MVRDV presented the design for the new Collection Building. The building with a surface of 15.000 sqm is an open art depot featuring exhibition halls, a sculpture roof garden and a restaurant. The public can see what’s going on behind the scenes in a museum and private art collectors will be able to store their own collection in ideal Museum conditions.
Canadian cabin design competition draws over 50 submissions from around the world. Young winner Nathan Fisher of Toronto awarded $1,000 and will see his design built on 580 acre sustainably managed forest by competition host; Community Forests International.
Community Forests International’s (CFI) panel of judges faced a larger than anticipated responsibility last week when over 50 entries from around the world poured into the organization’s sustainable cabin design contest.

Design: SHoP Architects. Award nomination for DMD Weathering Steel patina on the exterior of the Barclays Center, New York, New York, NY. The Barclay’s Center Arena was constructed with a latticework composed of 12,000 pre-weathered steel panels. Taking a cue from the Japanese Wabi-Sabi aesthetic, the tactility of the metal is designed to gracefully age without comprising the integrity of the cladding.

EUR Architecture Competition. Italy

DuPont™ Corian® launches an international award for design creativity with dark colours
This international design award, called “Shape The Future Of Black”, is open to professionals and students in the fields of architecture, furnishing, interior design, industrial design, general design, decorative arts, engineering and similar disciplines.
