This Parisian building is accessed by two hallways leading to the rear of the plot. Two communications nucleus distribute the 64 social rent housing. The servers spaces are distributed inside as a backbone, leaving the living spaces in front. This arrangement promotes flexibility and evolution in homes and some freedom of composition on the facades. All homes have multiple outdoor habitable spaces that extend housing outward. Acces to parking is shared by housing and the next office building and consists of 86 parking spaces.

Saltire Society Housing Design Awards Guest Chair Lesley Riddoch today announced the 76th Saltire Society Housing Design Awards with Margaret Burgess, Minister for Housing and Welfare presenting the Awards at a ceremony in Glasgow. The Awards reward and advocate innovation and excellence in Scottish house building and place-making.

The house in Melides, on the southern Alentejo Coast, by Pedro Reis, represents the desire for a holiday house as a getaway from the bustle of a big city. The client made the unusual decision to have an architectural competition between three distinct ateliers, allowing a choice from a wider range of possible solutions.

The house sits on a promontory amongst the foothills of Te Mata Peak overlooking Hawkes Bay. The clients had run a sheep station at Parongahau for many years and were looking to establish a new home at Te Mata. They are also actively involved in the Hawkes Bay art scene, as collectors and administrators.
