Kemsley County Primary School The school opened 2004, and cost £3.5 million. This new build design project was the result of a collaboration with architect Sir Colin Stansfield-Smith.
The contemporary design made extensive use of sustainable sources of timber for the timber-framed construction and the timber cladding.

Architect based in Hampshire, England. Practice famous for a series of respected schools in the 1980s, quite influential at the time – restrained contemporary architecture.
Born in 1932, died in 2013.
Education: University of Cambridge
Key Award: Royal Gold Medal
The architect worked in various architect’s offices, including the LCC and the GLC in London. From 1971 to 1973, he was Deputy County Architect at Cheshire County Council, Northwest England, under the directorship of Jack Whittle.
He was appointed CBE in 1988, was awarded the RIBA Royal Gold Medal in 1991, and was knighted “for services to Architecture” in 1993.
He was head of the celebrated Hampshire County Architects Department from 1973 to 1992. During that period, the work of his office became well known worldwide, especially for its new school buildings within the county.
He became a Professor of Architecture at the School of Architecture at the University of Portsmouth, England, in 1992, and later Emeritus Professor. He designed the University’s Portland building, which opened in 1997, where the Faculty of Architecture and other environmental faculties are now based.

Commemorating all those who have died in the service of British Army flying from before the First World War to the present day, the recently completed memorial at the Museum of Army Flying at Middle Wallop will be a focal point for commemorations this Remembrance Day.
