Canal House, an industrial loft with character in Amsterdam
This charming loft, full of life and located on one of the famous Amsterdam canals, has recently been refurbished by architecture firm Witteveen Architecten.
The result is the product of the creative relationship between the new modern elements and the original typical characteristics of the interior.
The home is characterized by the spaciousness of its rooms, the feeling of freedom and movement and the tactility of the materials used.
A Bedroom that Makes the Difference The master bedroom was built as an extension of the existing loft, which was renovated so that it would match the aesthetics and materials used throughout.
An Integrated Bathroom and Bath The matching bathroom and separate sunken bath, at the back of the bedroom, are literally “made” from HIMACS, including both the floor and the walls, as well as the shower and bespoke sink with personalized basins.
Throughout “black” steel is used to match the character of the exposed brick walls and detailing of the original school building.

The Pearl Café on Westerstraat
Café de Parel was originally a typical Amsterdam ‘brown bar’ with an old-fashioned dark interior and low lighting. The traditional stained-glass windows and monumental tile tableaus create the perfect setting for the new Parel.
