Royal Institute of British Architects Competitions announce that Foster + Partners has been selected as the architectural team to join the Upper Orwell Crossings project in Ipswich.
Design: Studio Liakos and Associates Architects. The challenge was to create a resort combining local construction detailing and style with the requirements of a modern building, while taking into consideration its gorgeous natural setting
Design: Díaz y Díaz Arquitectos. Built in 1923, this revitalised Modernist building has structural protection in the PGOUM of Sada. It is a genuine example of civil architecture “defrayed by the emigration, so abundant in the area”.

Design: Herzog and de Meuron, architects. Germany has a new architectural and musical landmark: the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg is now officially open. The building unites the former Kaispeicher warehouse with a new glass structure featuring wave-like peaks and valleys on top.

The dominant feature of the Corbusian building is the rippling facade that uses a clever smoothing device to create waves from a sawtooth plan (the block is double-loaded ie from a central corridor).
Design: Salt & Water. Each apartment is a catamaran that can be easily separated from the dock and navigated, allowing guests to choose the perfect location for their vacation by themselves.
Design: ROBERT KERR architecture design. This Californian beach house responds to extraordinary site conditions as a progressive revealing of a sculpted interior. Cantilevering on 3 sides, the top level is sculpted to express openings and exaggerate its weight.
Design: BAREA + PARTNERS, architects. A radical modification at the top of an apartment tower of the Levante coast creates a new space that turns to the sea: it immerses the flat in the aura of tranquility of the coast.
Design: Orange Architects. Ten luxurious apartments, on top of a double-height commercial plinth – ultimately suitable for a nice club or restaurant – on the shore line of Limassol, Cyprus. Closed competition winner, commissioned by Masharii & The Land.
Design by Chad Oppenhiem Architect, USA. Also known as the Ark, this three-level, single-family residence is located on the Atlantic Ocean. The property features 9,000 sqft of interior space with 3,000 sqft of ocean-view terraces, a lap pool, pool cabana, a two-car garage and an elevator.
