Mr. Betsky’s presentation marks the conclusion of ARTLANDS Tour #2, the program of conferences and walks in the Florentine Plane which Image (www.image-web.org) started last year to provide knowledge and insights into the new landscape proposals suggested by the works carried out by biologist Carlo Scoccianti and aimed at defining new natural environments through the reclamation and alteration of the territory.
The project task was to develop a multifunctional area with shops, offices and restaurants around the Gudiashvili Square in the heart of old Town in Tbilisi.
Grown trees on the existing traffic circle are hiding the views, specifically for cyclists, but as well for all traffic users. We propose to allow more visibility, in order to see the orientation and different characteristics of the roads, which will help to identify the streets to users.
The Square will play home to two unique lighting installations called Barking Illuminations which are part of Molten Festival. The displays will transform the Square using jaw-dropping and interactive light-art.
