Maggie’s, the charity which provides practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer, has applied for planning permission for a new Maggie’s Centre in the grounds of St Bartholomew’s Hospital. The plans for the Centre have been designed by US architect Steven Holl.
The building design has been fully supported by English Heritage. They point to the improvements that the building will realise by revelation and restoration of key architectural features such as the building’s quoins.
Following a competition win at the end of 2007 against a strong field of seven competitors from Germany, Holland, Italy, UK, Ukraine, and USA, bdpgroupe6 is now appointed to design a 250 bed children’s hospital in Kiev, Ukraine.

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has announced a new partnership with Maggie’s, the charity that provides support for people living with cancer, to create a Maggie’s Centre on its main hospital site in the Wirral, Merseyside. Design: NBBJ/HKS. Financial close has been reached on this £335 m project. The new hospital is for the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust. Work on site is due to start early in 2014, with completion scheduled for 2017.
