Armadillo house is so called for the inspiration the architect took to conceptualise a house sited where lived spaces would need protection from severe noise nuisance from the traffic junction and expressway adjacent. The architect cleverly sunk the main living and master bedroom below ground to shield it from the noise. It is set within a landscaped courtyard which creates a cool, natural environment.

Additional rooms are located on the upper floors. They are housed behind a series of overlapping sculpted pitched roofs, in between which the rooms view away from the source of noise and nuisance. The space between the overlapping roofs allows natural daylight and ventilation to filter into the spaces. The architect also introduced air induction in the design to enhance airflow through the house.

The innovative ideas seen in the design of this house is commendable.
