Great Barrier Island House: Residential Development in New Zealand – design by Crosson Clarke Carnachan Architects – World Architecture Festival 2010 – Shortlisted
The highly innovative building, designed by RTA Studio, was described by judges as “A rich, groundbreaking and thrilling tour de force”.
This comprehensive house alteration was in response to the clients’ growing need for space and a desire to reverse an existing plan that was contrary to the site conditions: Burn Street property in Wellington, NZ.
This house and studio for an artist sits on a steep site overlooking the black sand dunes of Bethells Beach.
House in Seatoun: 4 bedroom family home, good for entertaining large groups. The clients requested open plan kitchen/family/dining spaces with a lounge area able to be shut off.
This home was conceived as a very simple arrangement around a central entrance spine and timber skylight element.
Located close to the beach and fronting the Waimarama domain, the site for this family home was constrained both in size and by the need to relocate the house if required.
