Foster + Partners has completed 3Beirut – the first of the practice’s projects in Lebanon. Responding directly to the site and culture of Beirut, the scheme creates a sustainable residential and retail development in the heart of the city.
3Beirut, Solidere Masterplan Sector B, Beirut Central District, Lebanon – design by Foster + Partners – the scheme will create a sustainable residential and retail development of international quality. The development will also strengthen Beirut’s role as a centre for tourism, commerce, retail and entertainment while providing new green spaces at ground level for the city to enjoy.
Beirut Digital District commissioned the artist Jorge Rodríguez-Gerada, in collaboration with BAD. Built by Associative Data, to paint a mural in the district of Bachoura on a building that bears the marks of war and awaits to be re-built in Beirut, Lebanon.
The project, designed by Paul Kaloustian Studio, tries to create an environment of openness to the outdoor, the curvilinear geometry with the pitched roofs is accentuated by a thin glazing revealing the landscape around the house.
One Independence Square is a development by Hejeij Group, designed by BAD. Built by Associative Data – a young international design and architectural practice with several offices in Spain (Barcelona), Dublin (Ireland), Lebanon (Beirut) – with OAB, Carlos Ferrater, and Vicente Guallart.
Design: Orange Architects. CTBUH Awards Best Tall Building Middle East & Africa: residential tower for the Lebanese development corporation Masharii. The building is located on a prominently visible location in Sin el Fil, an eastern district of Beirut.

Design: L.E.FT, Architects. This building occupies a renovated cross-vaulted space, adding a veiled steel structure and a plaza in front. The slender minaret is formed of thinly-sliced steel plates, linked horizontally through a canopy to a curved entry wall.
Snøhetta has won the competition to design the new Banque Libano Francaise (BLF) headquarters. Located in Beirut, the project marks Snøhetta’s first ever commission in Lebanon.
Design: MZ Architects. The architecture and vision of the K Galleria project are inspired by the infamous ancient khan or urban caravanserai, the equivalent of the public marketplace in the Middle East during the Ottoman era.
Design: SOMA Architects. This building has 65 ft of frontage but only 13 ft depth: an array of 1,000 white glass-reinforced plastic cubes was made using advanced parametric tools, forming one continuous surface within the space.
