London’s Zaha Hadid Architects was shortlisted in the 2nd Sejong Cultural Centre competition, Seoul. ZHA create an interconnected sequence of indoor and outdoor public spaces that are enveloped by nature. The architectural proposal is defined by the city’s history and its unwavering optimism for the future.

Design: Populous. Construction complete on 2014 Incheon Asian Games Main Stadium. The celebration to mark the official end of construction on the main stadium for the 2014 Incheon Asian Games which begins September 19th was held in Incheon, South Korea on May 7th 2014.

The Daeyang Gallery and House in Seoul, Korea has received a 2012 Annual Design Review Award in the Live Category. 29 May 2012 – About the Daeyang Gallery and House, which opened in June 2012, juror Mark Yoes particularly noted “the way the project integrates ideas about natural light, water, landscape, and materiality into such a coherent statement.”
Design: Ben van Berkel / UNStudio’s design has been selected as the winning entry in the competition for the remodelling of the Hanwha Headquarters building in Seoul. The renovation of the office tower incorporates the remodelling of the facade, the interior of the common spaces, lobbies, meeting levels, auditorium and executive areas, along with the redesign of the landscaping.
Design: Peter Ruge Architekten. A thin skin, protecting from the sun and water connects the two buildings, leaving in between a pathway open for the public. This supports Busan’s natural flow from mountain to the ocean, creating a good harmony between urban space and architecture.
The new landmark of Busan’s Opera House reflects the natural and urban energies and connects it to the performing arts spaces of “Madangnoli”, at the Mountain Plaza and the Sunrise Plaza, an urban harmony with a folk performance played by ordinary people.

Design: Seungmo Lim. Pure Crystal is a special room of Boutique Hotel the Designers in Jongno, Seoul. Pure Crystal is a room filled with sparkling glow and delicate texture of crystal. Continued smooth surface and edge of furnishings and walls amplifies the “flexibility” of the 31㎡ space. Projections of furnishings on walls imbued with light make boundary vague and expand the dimension to grant a unique experience to the guests.
Samoo Architects & Engineers recently unveiled the design for the new National Research Center for Endangered Species which is to be located in Yeongyang-gun, one of the cleanest environmental areas in Korea. The complex is aimed to provide a hub for the study, education, and research on rare plants and animals of the Korean peninsula.
Design: ESD + Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture. Federation of Korean Industries Tower Opens In Seoul. The 50-story, 240 meter tall tower is the first in South Korea to use a pressurized underfloor air distribution system, includes integrated photovoltaic panels on its façade

With transparent curtain-wall facades, activities at the podium will be projected to the street level which will be invigorated with landscape & lighting features.
Design: MVRDV. Before a Korean pop-song became a global success on YouTube for the first time in history, MVRDV was commissioned to redefine a building on Gangnams chic Apgujung Road. The 1980s building was outdated in a street dominated by flagship stores. The transformation, which added an extra level, was completed in just 9 months.
Taekwondo-Won Building, Republic of Korea, design by Samoo Architects & Engineers. The Taekwondo-Won is established to become a global hub for the education, training, and promotion of Taekwondo, a Korean martial art that combines combat techniques with sports. With over 45million practitioners all around the world, the need for a central hub at the originating country was imminent.
