Charged with transforming a neglected urban island into an engaging park, we drew on the ecological history of the island for inspiration to increase its biodiversity and create a “living island.”

An innovative Canadian first for a heritage preservation project of its size, the new glass envelope that will protect the Grand Théâtre de Québec is a Lemay and Atelier 21 consortium design and the winning solution in the cultural complex’s architectural competition.
Architects: Clairoux. Northern white cedar—a local tree species—was the basis for the colouration and choice of materials. With time, this wood develops a silvery hue on the outside while retaining its blond colouring inside.

Roy-Lawrence Residence in Quebec design by Chevalier Morales Architectes outside the village of Sutton, in Quebec’s eastern townships: this residence is set in a vast estate very much impregnated with the legacy of a Swiss immigrant family that came to Canada in the 1930s.
