BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The installation celebrates with a utopia-monument, the social movements that took place in the winter of 2013, in São Paulo. It reactivates one of the primary functions of the architecture, which consists in remembering a crucial historical event. The narrative architecture and the form of utopia was used to tell the story of a possible future that those movements could have generated: an autodafé (collective destruction) mechanistic and the birth of a bustling society through culture and art.

MONUMENT TO THE PROTESTS OF SÃO PAULO, 2013
The exhibition conceived by Triptyque takes shape in photos and model exposed. It is part of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, which has a broad timetable for parallel program designs. Follow the link to learn more about the triennial: http://migre.me/gIFuo
President Getúlio Vargas decided in the 50s, focusing on the development of road transport instead of opting for rail transportation or public transportation. The economic consequences are immediate, a resounding success, São Paulo is industrialized to visibly and cars multiply rapidly.
This initial impulse is never contradicted. The unbridled creation of parking lots under the homes is orchestrated by developers without a real public control. They account for 30% of all built in the 2000s in the metropolis area. The record sales of cars continue to be beaten every quarter.
The “BIG CRUNCH” then becomes inevitable. The flow of cars reach a saturation level which will cause its own paralysis and the emergence of social movements of great amplitude. These events mark a new state of consciousness of man face to tools and machines. After decades of adoration to mechanical deities, the São Paulo, in a historical moment where “the future pervades this” feverish, spontaneous and collective way, take their vehicles to destruction.
Under social pressure, the city of São Paulo should orchestrate this inquisition machine. Across the river, will be constructed an anti-hub, un black hole infrastructure in which each vehicle will be crushed, dismantled, burned, and finally brought down the river toward distant recycling centers.
This daredevil giant, once fulfilled his task, becomes a monument and one devoted to a time where the individual mechanized transport dominated the life of the museum.
The infrastructure of access roads to the city, now obsolete, will be destroyed. The last stigmata of a committed future disaparecerão.
Be left alone, as the only witness to this era, “MONUMENT TO THE PROTESTS OF SÃO PAULO, 2013.”
