The hair strand project started its way by considering the idea of what a hair strand is and what kind of insights it can provide for designing the interior space of the barber shop.
This house is in essence a simple bold sculptural form which sits at the foot of a steep escarpment in the Wicklow hills. It is a two storey house with vehicular and pedestrian access from the Bray Road.

The house attempts to be both a reflection into contemporary Japan’s family life (sense of family vs. privacy) as well as a solution to balance individual freedom and space with collective activities and time.
Design: ODOSarchitects. The client’s brief simply asked for a new family home with more light and space but they were adamant that they did not want to move from the area. So, a new dwelling was designed to sit at the bottom of their unloved and overgrown back garden.

Despite its vernacular aspect, it was built in the 80’s incorporating stonework from demolished houses. Inside all spaces were structured around a central staircase which laid on the axis of the house, thus servicing all the unleveled platforms.
The six-storey redevelopment of the former Esslemont and Macintosh department store buildings, which is being designed by architects Holmes for C&L Properties, will include a 100-bed hotel with retail facilities at street level.

RIBA Design Contest – Caring for Older People Student Design Competition. DWA Architects has launched a design competition for architectural students worldwide with support from one of the UK’s largest care home operators, Bupa Care Services. The competition will be managed by the RIBA Competitions Office.
The block is sited on a basement car park (design OMA) serving as a pedestal. The elevated deck level is half occupied by the common entrance and the storerooms. The other part is a gym which continues on the parking level below where it ends in the fitness-café, an autonomous pavilion.
