KPF APPOINTED TO CREATE NEW LONDON OFFICE FOR BLACKROCK

Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF) has been appointed to create a new London office for BlackRock. The leading global investment management firm has taken the 292,418 ft2 Drapers Gardens in the City of London, following its recent acquisition of Barclays Global Investors.

KPF will work with BlackRock on a full fit out to create a modern, efficient working environment for approximately 2,000 employees. The office space is to be predominantly open plan supported by high quality meeting and ancillary employee facilities. A vital aspect of the brief is to unify the firm through a reflection of the combined culture which is anchored in a commitment to serving clients and investment excellence.

Commenting on the appointment, Dominic Dunn KPF’s London Managing Principal said: “We are delighted to have secured this prestigious project for one of the world’s leading investment management companies, which builds on the work KPF has undertaken with global occupiers all over the world.”

Richard Kushel, Vice Chairman at BlackRock, commented: “Located in the heart of the City of London, the new building provides an environmentally-friendly state-of-the-art facility for our business and an excellent working environment for our employees.”

“Bringing our London offices into a single facility has been a high priority since BlackRock’s acquisition of Barclays Global Investors in December. This will further the integration and fully enable us to leverage BlackRock’s breadth of resources on behalf of our clients.”

KPF is working with KKS on the gathering and development of the brief. Gardiner & Theobald are the Project and Cost Managers for the scheme and Hurley Palmer Flatt are the MEP Engineers.
