Victoria Gate Triumphs at World Architecture Festival

Victoria Gate in Leeds

17th November 2017 – Victoria Gate in Leeds has scooped the Retail Project of the Year at the World Architecture Festival in Berlin (WAF).

This completes a perfect week for the retail outlet, having won two awards earlier in the week at the Brick Awards 2017.

Bennett Architectural worked on three parts of this innovative project including a complex diagrid pattern for the rooftop restaurant of John Lewis which was formed using laser cut aluminium sheets in gold ionized finish with structured silicon glazed curtain walling.

For the Victoria Gate arcade frameless glazing systems – including curved glazing, were installed using bonded angles to the back of the glass inside concrete panels.

Installations on the arcade’s rooftop restaurant included Kawneer AA100 roof glazing, AA720 windows within Cor-Ten Steel rain screen cladding and curved glazing to corners.
