Manduria Architecture Competition

English text:

“I am glad to announce that NAUTA’s proposal “the Urban Puzzle” won the second prize in the international architecture competition for the “Sustainable city for kids” in Manduria (Italy).

The jury expressed huge appreciation for the accuracy, creativity and innovation of our project, thoug awarding with the first prize a traditional “no risk” project (judjement emerging from the the jury’s report itself).
Once more quality and research for excellence have to suffer the mediocrity of the system.
We are proud to share with all of you this event which for us remains a big success, confident of the real excellence of our proposal.

Sustainable city for kids

We consider as well events like this an opportunity to debate with our collegues over the current “competitions” system, which more and more is threatening our work, leaving it at the mercy of the case and the decision of sometimes unprofessional judges which have no knowledge about contemporary architecture and urbanism, sometimes even corrupted ones…
This system threatens as well the international debate and growth of research and innovation, spreading a general culture of mediocrity, blocking any progress of our discipline.”

NAUTA’s team for this competition: Maurizio Scarciglia, Alessandro Chiccoli, Valeria Doro, Igor Lusardi, Lisa Troiano
Logopedics consultant: Cristina Torreri
artistic consultant and graphic design: Sabine Heine (www.heinewelt.de)

NAUTA has been as well shortlisted for Europan 10 _ location Wien, Austria, with the project “Heidi and Carrie”:
