The new hotel will be a key component of the Ciudad Empresarial Sarmiento Angulo (www.ciudad-empresarial.com), a premier commercial mixed-use development planned for 18 buildings. Owned and constructed by Organización Luis Carlos Sarmiento Angulo, the project will be the seventh Grand Hyatt property designed by Goettsch Partners, including others in Guangzhou, China, and Mumbai, India, and their second in South America, after São Paulo. The project is being designed in collaboration with local firm Construcciones Planificadas S.A. (www.construccionesplanificadas.com), a firm that is part of Organización Luis Carlos Sarmiento Angulo.

The Grand Hyatt Bogotá will be a contemporary, world-class facility with 297 rooms, including 54 suites. Guestrooms and suites will range in size from 473 sq ft (44.0 sq m) to 2,368 sq ft (220 sq m). Expected to open in early 2015, the hotel will feature two restaurants, a lobby lounge, a patisserie, and more than 24,000 sq ft (2,270 sq m) of meeting and event space, including a 10,800 sq ft (1,000 sq m) ballroom. Additional hotel amenities will include a state-of-the-art fitness center, an indoor pool, and a luxury spa.

Located along Calle 26 (the city’s bustling Avenida El Dorado) in Bogotá, the hotel will be a short distance from Simón Bolívar Park, National University, the La Gran Estación luxury retail mall, and numerous companies and government ministries, including the Chamber of Commerce, the Federal Reserve, and the U.S. Embassy.

“We are excited about our new collaboration with Organización Luis Carlos Sarmiento Angulo. Our goal is to design a facility that will showcase the forward-thinking approach of our client while reinforcing the culture and rich heritage of Latin America,” said James Goettsch, FAIA, president of Goettsch Partners.
