Benoy is proud to announce the opening of the latest real estate flagship to grace western China, Chengdu International Finance Square (Chengdu IFS).
Appointed as the Masterplanner, Architect, Interior and Graphic Designer for Chengdu IFS, Benoy was part of the January grand opening ceremony to showcase the city’s new landmark complex. The major event was overseen by the world’s largest giant panda installation, “I Am Here”, by artist Lawrence Argent – highlighting the significance of the development.
Occupying the most coveted location within the core business district of Chengdu, at the prime junction of Hong Xing Road and Dacisi Road, Chengdu IFS has been conceived as a ‘City within a City’. The 210,000m2 premium retail podium is integrated to international Grade A office buildings, a five-star hotel and luxury residential properties, offering the ultimate in high-end, mixed-use destinations.
Covering six levels and two underground levels, the flagship retail development has attracted an international collection of luxury, fashion, lifestyle and jewelry brands including Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Lane Crawford, and the first Dior, Chanel, Burberry and Balenciaga stores for the city.
“The design for the sweeping and luxurious interiors was inspired by our desire to introduce new innovative design ideals seen in capital cities across the world”, explained Ferdinand Cheung, Project Director at Benoy. “We wanted to create an environment that would complement and showcase the collection of international tenants”.
Architecturally, the scheme amplifies the spirit of the street with a rich pedestrian experience and a focus on celebrating the cultural life of the city. Creating an urban oasis and attractive events venue, the Sky Garden hosts a landscaped sculpture terrace, alfresco dining clusters, and an art gallery. Along the main façade, feature boxes pop out of the terrace level to house concept stores and deliver a striking architectural statement to the streets below.
“We are very proud to have been appointed to this high-profile development and to have set a new benchmark not only for the city, but for the region”, concluded Ferdinand Cheung. “Western China is undergoing an exciting transformation at the moment and Chengdu is recognised as the new gateway to this area. Benoy’s aim wasn’t to just make a successful mixed-use development, but to design a new lifestyle and memorable destination for Chengdu, which we feel we have now achieved”.
