World’s Most Secluded Hotels Guide

23 January 2023

Why would you want to escape the hustle and bustle of established hotels to find a quieter place to stay during a holiday? For many, a hotel is simply somewhere to stay over – comfortable accommodation and a hearty breakfast – while they undertake the more important aspects of their break, the sightseeing and socializing. But for others, the hotel can become a crucial part of the experience. This is where secluded hotels can come into their own.

Reasons to choose these places to stay

1 Introversive state of mind

Hotels that are located away from the beaten track offer a pleasant retreat where a couple can recharge their batteries. The calming atmosphere is perfect for allowing guests to feel the stresses and strains of modern life seeping away.

2 Discreet romantic adventures

If you’re the type of single guy who would love to arrange an older women hookup, any of these hotels are ideal for intimate dates. Introductions in the digital environment on specialized older dating sites can be so much more meaningful than randomly bumping into prospective partners in social settings.

You can pore over anyone’s background details to determine who is likely to be compatible. You can also spend as long as you wish establishing a sense of chemistry by exchanging regular messages on the site. And the moment you realize you’re ready to meet your older woman, offer to meet for a steamy hookup in one of these hotels.

3 Celebs who want to have a rest

Another advantage of opting to visit these secluded venues is that there can be a distinct likelihood of bumping into prominent figures. As you sit in a restaurant and wait for the polite waiting staff to attend to your every need, as your eyes casually rove around, you just never know who you’ll see, studying the menu.

Film stars, bestselling authors, TV personalities, and top musicians have all been known to book in. An important point to bear in mind is that the reason these celebrities choose to stay in such exclusive accommodation is to escape the attention of zealous fans or annoying paparazzi. You can be a nude celeb within these boundaries and get yourself a relaxing treat. So, try to avoid the temptation of coming across as starstruck! Just play it cool, and offer a polite ‘hi’ should your paths cross.

Hotels and resorts hidden from the public eyes

– Fogo Island Inn, Newfoundland, Canada

Advertised as sitting on an island, off an island, at one of the four corners of the Earth (27 km from ferry services), Fogo Island Inn’s promotional video certainly conveys the impression of wild isolation. The footage pans over Canada’s rugged rocky coastline, battered by Atlantic surf, sweeping past grey seas peppered with icebergs, to home in on a futuristic-looking building.

We then gain tantalizing glimpses of the fantastic menus prepared for guests to enjoy in the sea-view restaurant of this North Atlantic retreat. With saunas and hot tubs, and 29 one-of-a-kind rooms, there are floor-to-ceiling windows, heated toilet seats and wooden stoves.

– Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle, Chang Rai, Thailand

Situated in decidedly warmer climes, this hotel offers a magical escape in tended camp luxury. The teeming Thai jungle is located right outside the rooms, so expect to drift off to sleep against a backdrop of birdsong and monkeys calling. The scenic Ruak River flows by, and the location next to Golden Triangle Park makes this tranquil retreat the perfect place to chill.

– Little Palm Island Resort and Spa (Little Torch Key, Florida)

This expensive oasis is only accessible via seaplane or boat and lies 5 miles from Florida’s National Key Deer Refuge. With beachfront rooms, spa treatments, and, most of all, its tropical island location, you can enjoy water sports or simply stroll along golden beaches.

– The Muraka at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island (South Ari Atoll, Maldives)

Opening in 2018 in the Maldives, in the azure Indian Ocean, the Muraka is the world’s first underwater hotel. Part of the Rangali Island Reserve, this building has to be seen to be believed. Guests arrive by private seaplane or speedboat transfer and can lounge in bedrooms with curved acrylic glass ceilings, watching sealife gliding by.

– Schloss Elmau (Krün, Germany)

Situated in a four-storey castle and national monument, Schloss Elmau nestles by the lower slopes of Germany’s Bavarian Alps. Initially housing survivors of Nazi Germany’s camps after World War Two, this is now a stunning five-star hotel that gained worldwide fame for hosting classical concerts during the 1950s and, more recently, literary events. A fire in 2005 prompted extensive renovations, and the present building now hosts conferences in this stunning location.

We’ve provided a list of some of the most exclusive and secluded hotels in the world. This is the tip of the iceberg, and as well as these suggestions, there are many more. You might even have an idea yourself. You can always keep abreast of architectural news to find out about the latest developments – new hotels are being planned and opened regularly. Further exciting opportunities for excursions are just around the corner!
