Hazelwood School Building : gm+ad
Alan Dunlop of Gordon Murray and Alan Dunlop Architects, Glasgow, Scotland, says that good architects recognize the significance of school architecture. “Good school design is important for children,” he notes, “for it says: ‘You are our future, and we recognize that you are special.’ It’s important for teachers, for it places a value on them and helps to motivate. A well-designed school can reduce the burden and pressures of teaching. It helps parents, for it conveys the clear message that they deserve our respect.”

David Chipperfield Architects originally won first prize and Adjaye/Associates second prize in mid-February with the jury recommending that both designs be optimised. The appointment of David Chipperfield Architects follows a one month period of revision to the project. In total, 12 practices took part in the international competition.

Ten Museum Park : Oppenheim Architecture + Design
Ten Museum Park is an exploration of the hedonistic possibilities of architecture in a futuristic tropical playground of urban sophistication. This project represents the rare opportunity when imagination and reality fuse to create new luxuries and experiences beyond fantasy. A crisp, well proportioned exoskeleton engages a pure crystalline volume soaring 50 stories above the bay—a dynamic beacon for the majestic cruise ships as they return from their voyages around the globe. Framing fragments of water, city and sky, every personal and communal space within the complex was designed to serve as a backdrop for life in its most beautiful form.
