Following Purcell’s previous involvement in the façade design for a private house in Guangzhou Province, the team were approached by the same client to re-design the building exterior of 4 6-storey residential towers, podium and other affiliated facility structures for Private Residential Estate in Guangzhou, China.

James Wyatt’s Cobham Dairy had sat derelict in Humphrey Repton’s Cobham Park landscape for over a century before the Landmark Trust stepped in to save it. Their brief to transform this Georgian ‘Gothick’ building into a one-bedroom holiday let was straightforward, but the complexity lay in adapting a Grade II* listed building to provide modern levels of comfort whilst being sensitive to the original design; and complying with ecological, archaeological, and planning requirements.

Following a £3.1m refurbishment this Grade 1 scheduled monument will reopen in September as a unique arts and heritage centre. Housing a permanent exhibition on the history of the 700-year-old building, GHT will also be home to two new gallery spaces showcasing specially commissioned contemporary art and period works from prestigious south coast collections.

Vita Student York, York by Fuse and Reform, with Purcell as the Conservation Architect during the Planning stage of the project, is one of thirteen buildings have been shortlisted for RIBA Yorkshire (Royal Institute of British Architects) 2018 Awards; the winners will be announced at an Awards evening at The Museum Gardens, York on Thursday 24 May.

Durham Cathedral Open Treasure is one of twelve buildings shortlisted for RIBA Northeast Awards 2018 by Royal Institute of British Architects judges. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at The Museum Gardens, York on 24 May.

The latest stage of redevelopment at St Fagans National Musum of History in south Wales have been unveiled. From 14 July 2017, visitors to St Fagans National Museum of History will be greeted at a vastly improved new entrance building and will be able to enter Gweithdy – the newest addition to the museum’s collection – which this time is a brand new build.

Planning permission has been granted for architect Purcell’s two prison redevelopments for City & Country. Dorchester prison in Dorset and Shepton Mallet prison in Somerset will be restored and converted into high quality homes.

The ambition of the centre is to create a sustainable new home to share the heritage of Salisbury Plain and display internationally significant collections. The National Mining Memorial Centre in Scotland Shortlisted for Two Awards Derelict coal processing building converted to remembrance and exhibition space shortlisted for RIAS and EAA Awards.
A new memorial centre to commemorate the sacrifices made by those involved in Scotland’s coal mining industry is shortlisted for two design awards. The project, completed by Purcell’s Edinburgh studio, is in the running for a Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland Award as well as an Edinburgh Architectural Association Award in the Small Projects category. 27 Mar 2014

Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts has announced today the appointment of RIBA award-winning architects Purcell to lead the design team for the redevelopment of the iconic Hornsey Town Hall in Crouch End. Today’s good news follows on from successfully securing initial support, including a development grant of £482,000, from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) last year.

Building shortlisted for prestigious architecture awards: The Radcliffe Humanities building at the University of Oxford has been shortlisted for a prestigious Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) award and a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Building Conservation award. Once the home of Oxford’s first ever hospital, the Radcliffe Infirmary underwent a £10m renovation last year.
