PLP TOPS THE CHARTS
Newly launched practice steams into top industry league table at 35 –

PLP Architecture (PLP), the architectural practice formed last year by the five former partners of Kohn Pederson Fox’ London office, Lee Polisano, David Leventhal, Fred Pilbrow, Karen Cook and Ron Bakker, has been named the highest new entrant to annual industry league table, the AJ100.

Established just nine months ago, the practice has grown at a phenomenal pace to around 75 employees, and has scooped arguably the most important new project in the City of London, Heron International’s £500m scheme, “Four Seasons Hotel and Residences at Heron Plaza”, the first purpose built, luxury hotel constructed in Central London for 30 years.

Last month, PLP was also revealed as the architect behind designs for a second Four Seasons project, “Four Seasons Abu Dhabi, Sowwah Island”, a luxury business hotel located at the heart of Abu Dhabi’s new Central Business District. The project is being developed by Mubadala Real Estate & Hospitality. Also in the Middle East, the practice is nearing completion of its large scale masterplanning project for the Qatar Foundation.

In the UK, other major projects that PLP has secured since its launch in September 2009 include a collaboration with HOK on the design of the United Kingdom Centre for Medical Research and Innovation and two Crossrail over station developments at Bond Street West, for the Grosvenor Estate, and Farringdon East, with Scott Wilson.

Speaking about the award, Fred Pilbrow, Partner at PLP commented:

“Having launched PLP during difficult economic times, I know I speak for all of the company’s partners when I say how delighted we are to be working on so many diverse and interesting projects. To have been recognised in this way so soon after the company’s launch is a tribute to the hard work of all of our team, and makes me feel truly proud. Just nine months on from the launch, the world has already changed dramatically, politically and economically, and it is exciting to think what the next nine months may bring.”
