Lopota Lake Resort & Spa, the 60-hectare (148 acres) family-owned resort nestled in the heart of the Kakheti region of eastern Georgia, today announces the opening of its outstanding new Jazz Club & Bar, designed by David Koiava of Georgian architectural firm Design Avenue Studio. The Lopota Jazz Club, a vision conceived years ago by founder Goga Maisuradze, opens now as a testament to his innovative spirit.
Fashioned in what has become the signature style for the resort, the club is an energy-efficient two-story building, established on the Northern part of the property as a unique landmark which manages to, through use of natural materials and an organic colour palette, simultaneously blend with the natural surroundings whilst also standing out, with a unique and bold design. With this new dedicated venue, music has become an integral part of the resort’s identity.
Designed to evoke the feelings of a true jazz experience, the structure’s seamless design concept presents a striking, rounded, concrete and stone exterior, surrounded by thick, locally-sourced wood columns which rise high and circle the building and the large open-air circular atrium situated at the front entrance to the club. Not too far in the distance, the Caucasus Mountains, as well as the manicured lawns which border the complex and the trees dotted between the wood columns, reflect the region’s natural heritage and add a softness and natural touch to contrast the cooler, more modern look of the building.
Inside, the club presents a sophisticated interior, that is both intimate and vibrant, with a warm and moody colour palette consisting of dark brown, mustard orange and deep blue, and atmospheric lighting specifically chosen to reflect the ambiance of jazz. Hosting up to 150 guests, a mix of cosy booth tables, freestanding tables and bar stools, makeup the different seating options spread across the two floors, all spectating on the main stage. The space incorporates luxurious Pierre Frey fabrics, and key furniture pieces from brands Pianca, Pedrali and Ferm Living.
Situated opposite the stage on the first floor, a handcrafted bar dominates the space, serving top-tier drinks. Above it, sits a centrepiece pendant lamp consisting of three overlapping copper rings, emulating a warm light onto the glossy black countertop. The second floor, a balcony sitting directly atop the bar, offers a more private setting, overlooking the stage, ideal for guests who wish to enjoy the music and the mood with a birds eye view.
Architecturally designed with music in mind, the materials, spatial planning and sound systems were curated under supervision of Acoustic Experts at Akukon, a world leading Finnish company which specialises in ensuring professional acoustic optimization by designing the space to enhance sound insulation, interior acoustics, noise & vibration control and audiovisual design.
“As Lopota is a resort catering to many families, my Father, Goga Maisuradze envisioned creating a space where the guests could unwind until late in the night, to preserve tranquillity at the property for the adults visiting.” Said Ana Maisuradze, owner of Lopota Lake Resort & Spa, “In this new Jazz Club guests can listen to Jazz, with a signature cocktail or a glass of Chateau Beura’s wine in hand, and sample a few dishes from the late dining menu, savouring the tastes to the sound of Jazz music. It is also important to note that this is the first Jazz club in Georgia in regards to the visual, concept and space, because in Georgia one usually finds underground Jazz clubs”.
Lopota Lake Resort & Spa invites guests to spend every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening enjoying the late night menu, curated drinks and a nightly live performance by a mix of local and international jazz artists.
The opening of the Jazz Club follows the resort’s recent extension of a new building with 80 premium rooms, and the opening of its new Aqua Park ‘Green Aqua’. With a plethora of premium facilities catering to the needs of all travellers, including a spa and wellness centre, a winery, six restaurants, eight swimming pools, tennis courts, horse farm and more, Lopota Lake Resort & Spa has one of the most extensive offerings to be found within resorts in the region.
