Expansion of the Kimbell Art Museum, Texas, USA

Surrounded by elms and red oaks, Renzo Piano’s 101,130-square-foot colonnaded pavilion stands as an expression of simplicity and lightness—glass, concrete and wood—some 65 yards to the west of Louis I. Kahn’s signature cycloid-vaulted museum of 1972.

The A.P. Møller Foundation has made a generous donation to securing the future of the Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art by adding new building facilities.

For 33 years that facility has served the mission of the organization well, fostering a program of art, dialogue, and creativity that has grown into a major cultural institution. The new building by this celebrated Japanese architect is now structurally complete.
Architects Shortlist. The Vancouver Art Gallery has short-listed five architectural firms as finalists for the design of its new home in downtown Vancouver. Selected from a pool of 75 firms representing 16 countries, the finalists include Diller Scofidio + Renfro (New York), Herzog & de Meuron (Basel), KPMB Architects (Toronto), SANAA (Tokyo), and Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects (New York).
The building designed by Frank Gehry brings together the full range of the architect’s methods, aesthetic codes and modes of expression, while representing a new stage in his work.

Conceived as infrastructure and landscape, the building is the first museum to achieve LEED Gold Certification ranking in Florida and is one of only three children’s museums to be LEED Gold certified in the United States. New Gagosian Gallery in Mayfair, London Design: TateHindle. Westminster City Council has granted planning consent for the recladding and remodelling of 20 Grosvenor Hill. The building is owned by Grosvenor Britain & Ireland (Grosvenor), which was assisted with its planning application by architects TateHindle.
