Sited on an exceptionally steep piece of land on the bluff above BI Beach in Plettenberg Bay, the challenge with the Harker Street House project was always going to be how to make a beach house “live” across a vertically driven program.

This pristine contemporary home, Pearl Bay Residence is located on the west coast 90kms north of Cape Town – bordered by a nature reserve adjoining the ocean.
The owner’s brief was to design a house inspired by its indigenous surroundings, which is part of the recently established Sea Farm Private Nature Reserve.
Originally a single storey home, the brief for the additions and alterations of this home called for the modernizing of the house and adding a second storey to increase the areas to more than double its existing size.

Aware of contemporary architectural trends, they requested a sculptured building with clean horizontal lines, large areas of glass and screens creating a space that is ‘open as well as private’.
Their brief was a 2-bedroomed home with indoor / outdoor living spaces and a studio to be used in their photographic and film related occupations,” says Project Partner, Stefan Antoni.

ANTONI ASSOCIATES’, the Interior Design and Décor division of the iconic architectural firm SAOTA, latest project combines elegance, luxury and sophistication in a beach front property located along one of the pristine white beaches of Cape Town.
This residence in a leafy Johannesburg suburb was designed by Nico van der Meulen, founder of Nico van der Meulen Architects in 1986, on a 2000sq.m sub-division and completed in 1987 for his family.
A young family re-locating to the Western Cape was looking to change from city living to a more relaxed country lifestyle, moving to exclusive Pearl Valley Golf Estate near Paarl, 30 minutes away from Cape Town.
