The highly-anticipated new visitor centre – which is due to open on 1 March, ahead of the 700th anniversary of the battle on 23 and 24 June – uses cutting-edge technology to bring the battle to life for visitors, offering an experience which is unlike any other available in the UK. State-of-the-art installations are used to interpret and explain the events which led up to the battle, and its consequences.
NORD Architecture granted planning permission for new Maggie’s Centre in the grounds of Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert. This will be the 9th Maggie’s Centre in Scotland with Maggie’s Aberdeen having opened in September last year and the new purpose built Centre in Lanarkshire due to open later this year.

Sutherland Hussey Architects receive planning permission for design of two adjacent apartment villas in the small village of Coldingham Bay to the south east of Edinburgh. Each villa consists of 4 independently accessed apartments.
The Victorian baronial-style John O’ Groats Hotel had been left to rot for more than 15 years. The depressing scene had gradually drained the life out of the place but still the visitors came, were disappointed, and left. The project was conceived and inspired by GLM’s client Natural Retreats.

WASPS South Block in Glasgow by NORD Architecture has been awarded the RIAS Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award for 2013. From a shortlist of twelve projects, all winners of RIAS Awards for 2013 (presented in June 2013), the judges selected WASPS South Block as a clear winner.
