Designed by ARCHSTUDIO Layering Yard is hidden in a traditional commercial block near the Qianmen of Beijing, with an area of about 500 square meters. The original architecture was a quadrangle courtyard commercial building with the characteristics of houses in the Republican period.

A delightful building by architects Li Xiadong/Atelier for a small village on the outskirts of Beijing: “we found large amounts of locally sourced wooden sticks piled around each house…(for) cooking stoves. Thus we decided to use this ordinary material in an extraordinary way, cladding the building in familiar textures in a way that is strikingly sensitive.”

CCD intended to create a “New Yuppies” style hotel. It is “new” for that typical Yuppies symbolizes the pursuit for positive, confident, calm, gentle and fashionable life, with main colors of black, white and grey.
