The project is located in Sligo, perched above Glencar Lake to the south and surrounded by the limestone cliffs and tabletops of Benbulbin Mountain to the north. The existing limestone cottage had a defensive relationship to this dramatic landscape.
Abbeyleix Library Laois building design by DeBlacam & Meagher in Ireland. It was the Architect’s ambition to re-pave the square, and this was achieved by re-planning the car parking and planting Italian Cypress to compliment the 1890’s building.
The site is long, sloping, falling towards cliffs and the sea. Entering the site the viewer’s eye is drawn to the horizon, the viewer is pulled towards the abstracted line.
The design process related to the redevelopment of Thomond Park extends back to 2003 with a request to examine significantly increasing the existing 11,091 capacity stadium.
