The William Gates Building is the University of Cambridge Computer Faculty’s new home now that it has outgrown its city centre accommodation, and includes research, teaching, library and catering facilities for 300 students.
The oldest parts of the College date from the time of King’s Hall, including the range behind the Clock Tower, which are medieval, and the Great Gate, which was built at the beginning of the 16th century.

The building is located on the west side of Castle Street, between Northampton Street and St Peter’s Church. It was originally the Cambridge home of Jim Ede and his wife Helen, from 1956.
