The Floating Smart City E- Zone is a Sustainable, Post Carbon, totally self sufficient community that generates its own electrical power, supplies its own drinking water and processes its own sewage.
Design: LK Architects. The cafe enriches a neighbourhood of cafes and restaurants in the Pafos centre. A conversion of an abandoned kebab house, it is the first of its kind, a combination of cafe and patisserie.

Intriguing Catalan architecture – a confident, expressive building by David Mackay / MBM. The ‘Design Hub’ is located on a sloping site beside Jean Nouvelle’s Agbar tower, and very close to the elevated roundabout of a busy motorway. The site is part of a future park which meant that only a small building footprint would be allowed at ground level with the rest of the building underground.
Foster + Partners architects have produced a majestic, elegant building for Jordan. The have taken the repetitive pattern and top-lit concept of their earlier Stansted Airport building and improved it with a wonderful treatment of concrete. The building is a heavyweight, concrete flowing but controlled – articulated by well-placed joints. It seems like a return to the serious concrete structures of the past.
Design: WOHA. Designed as a hotel and office in a garden, the project at Upper Pickering Street is a study of how we can not only conserve our greenery in a built-up high-rise city centre but multiply it in a manner that is architecturally striking, integrated and sustainable.
Design: MVRDV. Before a Korean pop-song became a global success on YouTube for the first time in history, MVRDV was commissioned to redefine a building on Gangnams chic Apgujung Road. The 1980s building was outdated in a street dominated by flagship stores. The transformation, which added an extra level, was completed in just 9 months.
Design: Snøhetta with Clark Nexsen: this new building serves both as NC State’s second main library and the intellectual and social heart of the university’s Centennial Campus. The Hunt Library also houses the Institute for Emerging Issues, a think tank led by former North Carolina Governor James B. Hunt, academic offices, visualization and digital media labs and an auditorium.
