To celebrate the 300th anniversary of the founding of the city of Karlsruhe in 2015, a temporary event pavilion will be erected in the city’s Schlosspark. During the festival summer, various concerts, theater performances, readings, film screenings, and exhibitions will be held in the open structure.

Ramat Hasharon House, Israel Residence

Design: Pitsou Kedem Architects. A frontal courtyard excavated to a depth of three meters and the second courtyard at the level of the building’s ground floor. This topographical interface creates a unique cross section to the building’s mass with each part of the building, even the section constructed as a basement, being open to its own courtyard.

Columbia – a country which brings to mind coffee, colonial times, dance and exuberance. This feeling is reflected in the architecture of the “Titán Plaza”, a shopping center designed by the architects Tamayo Montilla Arquitectos. It is a wide open building offering plenty of space, ready for meeting up and celebrating, as if made for the pulsing life of Bogotá.

National Stadium in Tripoli – Building in Libya

A new football stadium for Tripoli: the groundbreaking ceremony for the National Stadium in the new sports park, which was designed by the architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners (gmp) took place on Wednesday 26 February 2014. The ceremony took place in the presence of the Libyan Prime Minister, Ali Seidan, the German Ambassador, Christian Much, the football legend Franz Beckenbauer and the gmp Project Manager, Hans-Joachim Paap. gmp has been commissioned with the scheme design for the project as well as the detailed design.

Ultra-Ruin designed by Marco Casagrande is a wooden architectural organism that is growing from the ruins of an abandoned red brick farmhouse in the meeting place of terraced farms and jungle. The weak architecture follows the principles of Open Form and is improvised on the site based on instincts reacting on the presence of jungle, ruin and local knowledge.

Z House in Bellevue Hill, New South Wales

Design: Bruce Stafford Architects. This family home is the result of an extensive renovation to a modest but elevated harbour-facing property. The project involved working with a significant proportion of the existing fabric, resulting in the need for a carefully resolved internal layout.

London Aquatics Centre: Pool by Zaha Hadid

For the first time since the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games the public will be able to make a splash in the same swimming pools as some of Great Britain’s greatest athletes. The iconic London Aquatics Centre at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park opens its doors on Saturday 1 March 2014.

La Queue du Lezard, Mixed-used Leisure Complex

At the core of the urban renewal project for the Mireuil district of La Rochelle, “La Queue du Lézard” (“The Lizard’s Tail”) is a complex of local community amenities which is part of a plan proposed by ANRU (the French National Agency for Urban Renewal) developed together with landscape designers from the In Situ firm. A community centre, city sports grounds and a games library are grouped together in a 200 m long narrow strip made up of alternating built elements and voids.
