Design: schmidt hammer lassen architects + Architectus
Danish schmidt hammer lassen architects and New Zealand based Architectus have won the commission to design the New Central Library in Christchurch, New Zealand. The new library, which will be up to approximately 12,000 square metres, will be one of the anchor projects in the Recovery Plan for the city of Christchurch after the damaging earthquakes in 2010 and 2011.
5* island resort on Maldives, Indian Ocean. The architecture aims to respect the indigenous nature. One hundred small on-water villas on stilts are dotted through 4 of the 14 islands to create a disparate 5-star resort. The buildings also include beach-bungalows, a restaurant, beach-grill, pool-restaurant, spa, pool and a diving school.

The 2500 square meter Marine Research Center would be located 150 meters off shore from the of Kuta beach. It is an imposing fluid structure that seamlessly adapts to its natural aquatic environment and allows visitors and scientist to have a direct visual connection to the exterior.
Design: TEAM_BLDG. For an architect, as the construction of a building is completed, it is almost the same mood of put a letter into mailbox, you write it for quite a long time. Who will read this letter? What’s the expectation of the reader for opening the envelope? Will the reader feel happy or not? Will it be kept kindly or thrown away directly?
Architecture for us is like the word for a writer, just a way of expression, the way we are good at. This is not only about expressing, the more important side is the people who will stay in the building, and the feeling of theirs for staying in the space we created.
Hefferlin + Kronenberg Architects designed a cabin on the Tellico River for a doctor and his wife. He has been fishing the Tellico since childhood and the site holds an important sentimental value to him. The banks of the river and the Tellico Valley is where the Cherokee nation gathered for important councils so the site has important historical value as well. It’s a magical place.

A parallel initiative to the design of the transport system was the inclusion of a number of artists, such as Barbara Kruger and Mario Mertz, to make specific installations at key points of the line.

Designed by Tom Kundig and Kirsten Murray of award-winning Olson Kundig Architects, the expansion will include cutting edge educational facilities for a student population that is as unique as are the buildings themselves.
Scott Resnick and Brown Harris Stevens announce the opening of the sales office for 551W21, the new 19-story luxury condominium in West Chelsea by architects Foster + Partners. Designed by Lee Mindel of Shelton, Mindel & Associates, the sales office meticulously presents the signature interior elements of Foster + Partners’ building design.
The condominium overlooks the Hudson River and features 44 large-scaled residences. Beyer Blinder Belle is the executive architect for the building.

The material enhances the building design and the viewer can almost “feel” the material.
