Hotel extension and renovation

Perched on the heights of Bormes-les-Mimosas, overlooking the village and the sea, Hôtel le Mirage selected Atelier du Pont to carry out its renovation and extension. Conceived to integrate with both the landscape and the existing architecture, the hotel extension settles delicately into the wooded hillside that rises above the Mediterranean coastline. The project accompanies the evolution of the hotel’s offer and services, while preserving the harmony of the site and the generosity of its outdoor spaces.
To develop this new hospitality proposition, 6 villas have been created within a Mediterranean garden. They house 36 rooms and 2 suites. These are complemented by a terraced extension built in the tradition of restanques of the existing hotel, increasing its capacity without any loss of outdoor space. A new welcome pavilion, visible from the entrance, marks the arrival along a calade leading to the heart of the project.
Nestled among the pine trees, the new villas feature light-filtering pergolas.
Each room is oriented to make the most of an unobstructed view of the sea, while preserving the privacy of its guests. The interior ambiance draws its inspiration from the spirit of the French Riviera, with carefully selected furniture pieces. The colours and materials chosen by Atelier du Pont : natural fibres, mineral surfaces, and ochre and sand tones combined with local stone, terracotta on the outdoor floors, and driftwood for the pergolas, find their place naturally within the Mediterranean landscape.
Among the new services on offer: a 400 m² spa, a fitness room, and reimagined dining and relaxation spaces enrich the overall guest experience. The spa establishes an intimate relationship with the ground, the earth, and the Mediterranean landscape that surrounds it. Its interior ambiance is soft and restorative, with warm, enveloping curved forms that sculpt the space and define the different wellness areas.
Atelier du Pont
Since 1997 and around the two founding partners, Anne-Cécile Comar and Philippe Croisier, the agency has been enriched by the many skills of people from all horizons. Today, Atelier du Pont is an agency that brings together architects, interior architects and designers.
Their approach is global. Whether it’s a small 15sqm boutique or a 10,00sqm building, Atelier du Pont handles every aspect: architecture, urban planning, interior design, furniture, art direction and space planning. This is also what makes them unique, and what enables them to deliver turnkey projects.
To define the initial outlines of a project, Atelier du Pont looks at the landscape and the climate, as well as traditional practices and know-how, local raw materials and the spirit of the place. In this way, they defend a generous, contextual architecture. Each project is an opportunity to explore new paths and new methods.
The working environment created by Atelier du Pont allows them to test new combinations and materials, so that each project can be given its own legitimacy and identity. Conceived as a small laboratory, the new agency – Impasse Lamier, in the heart of Paris’s 11th arrondissement – is a showcase for their expertise and their approach to design. It’s also a place to live, to exchange ideas and to experiment with new ways of working and the spaces they design.
Nowadays, Atelier du Pont employs 40 people: architects, perspective artists, site managers, interior architects, designers, not to mention Plan02, their integrated eco-design consultancy.
