BASE in greenhouse
Creneau International creates a concept for the BASE flagship store in Antwerp

Technological telecommunications projects are cultivated in a corner of Antwerp-Central station. The operator BASE works there in an elegant greenhouse, the new flagship store which exudes the ecological and transparent values of the brand. Crystal clear, the concept created by the atmosphere architects of Creneau International contrasts superbly with the massive structure of the historic station building.

The new BASE flagship store enjoys a unique location in the majestic An-vers-Central station. An ideal setting for Creneau International, which was able to play with contrasts. The designers imagined the concept in the form of a ‘box in box’ while respecting the renovated station building. All the integrated elements, for example, have found a place outside the walls.

Simone Pullens and Andrew Theunissen, the designers of the project, explain: “The Antwerp-Central station is monumental. This listed building can boast a particularly rich history and was made with massive materials. The BASE brand as for it is distinguished by contemporary values: ecology, transparency, clarity, emotion in focus. In order to merge these two strong identities in this unique place, we have fully played the card of contrast. The result?A design concept and a nod to… a greenhouse!”

Text bubbles

A gigantic bay window extends over the two floors of the store which hosts not only product displays but also a coffee corner, a lounge area and even a business center. In the center of the flagship store are ‘culture tables’ in the shape of wheelbarrows which are used to present the latest developments in telecommunications technology. A fresh and surprising idea! Also sustainable since there are no BASE leaflets in the store. Information is printed on demand only.

The BASE island also benefits from a central location. It is actually an enhanced platform for ‘Freedom of Speech’. At the top of this white island ‘float’ text bubbles which together constitute a luminous lighting element. A fully BASE breathable environment since the text bubbles can also be seen from the outside.

À propos de Creneau International

Their logo? Two winged monkeys. Their baseline? ‘Hac itur ad astra’ (*)… you will have understood that the ‘atmosphere architects’ of Creneau International stand out from the crowd.

Through ‘ideas of the anti-ordinary’, they are making their mark on visual communication all over the world – from design concepts and graphic work to interior design and experience. brand. To reach the stars (*), there’s nothing like taking the ‘Creneau International’ shortcut, following the example of many brands.
