Location: Upstairs Pannekoekenhuis, Grimburgwal, a few minutes walk southwest from city centre – Dam Square

To access the Pannekoekenhuis Upstairs you have to go up two flights of concurrent stairs with an extra flight at door. This is a famous Dutch restaurant but also architecturally interesting.

There are only about 4 tables so get there early. We found food and service was good (visit in 2012) but it is the setting which really makes for a pleasurable experience. The interior is dark with lots of varnished wood and photos of the Dutch royal family.
