Forming part of the £58 million Orkney Islands Schools Investment Programme, Stromness Primary School in Orkney was designed by Keppie and built by Morrison Construction.
Design: Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (RSHP). Graham Stirk, lead architect on the project, said: “The design is essentially a series of a grass-covered undulating roof forms that are sympathetic to this Area of Great Landscape Value.”
The new 4,800sqm development will create facilities for the University of Highlands and Islands as well as a headquarters for Highlands and Islands Enterprise (the region’s economic and community development agency).
