Architects: Cun-Design
Many new landmark buildings have been constructed with the urbanization of China. However, old buildings are rather overlooked in modern era. It is time to slow down, and reevaluate what contributes to the rebirth of buildings.
Design: Architects of Invention. The LANDSCAPE BUILDING idea was conceived as a gentle exchange; it is a terrain in itself. The building uses every aspect of its construction for navigation and art exhibition. The roof slopes are pedestrian walkways and they form a sculpture park.
Design: SuperLimão Studio. The aim to provide more visibility and convey attributes linked to a century of corporate furniture brand, the big challenge was to build a new facade to an existing building located on one of the most important avenues in the city.
Architects: HofmanDujardin
Oamsterdam Sustainable Urban Strategy will create new connections within the urban fabric, leading to a larger city-centre. The bridges, already under discussion, will be rooted in a more extensive plan for the city.
Design: QIN Yue-Ming. The Silkgarden Resort and Spa, is located at this pastoral scene, poetically described as “Fairy water falls on earth, and beautiful scenery is looming in the mist.”
Design: Studio VARA, architects. This adaptive reuse project transforms the most banal of commercial box buildings into a light-filled courtyard office space specifically outfitted for a discerning, high-end residential builder with an exclusive clientele.
Ben van Berkel / UNStudio collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on a new study for the development of the A10 ring road and the Lelylaan area in Amsterdam.
Architects: Asante Architecture & Design. The small house on the coast is part of the project Bygda 2.0, a rural development on the island of Stokkøya, focusing on building modern Norwegian houses shaping a dynamic village.
Design: Turnbull Griffin Haesloop Architects. An original 160-acre homestead located in the Chileno Valley. The ranch had been fallow for over 30 years and the owners wanted to build a barn house that would reflect their commitment to sustainable farming.
Design: Justin Mallia Architecture. This scheme uses architectural understanding to drive a development project to meaningfully infill an otherwise ignored space.
Design: Arkitema Architects. The new addition to the school in Denmark creates a further 460sqm of space, which can accommodate 100 children, spread across two floors. The extension houses three classrooms, a common room and a double height workshop as well as a large roof terrace.
Design: Chauriye Stäger Arquitectos. This commission involved the revamping of two old houses, with a third building incorporated as an annex. The challenge was to merge all three properties into one corporate building.
Design: Hans van Heeswijk Architects. Netherlands’ biggest collection of modern realist art, housed in the former town hall of Gorssel. This building has undergone a transformation with new wings for galleries behind the existing building.
Design: HOK with Arup. Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh attend officially open the Francis Crick Institute, a centre of excellence in the field of biomedical research, close to St Pancras International and King’s Cross railway stations.
