Amsterdam, November 10th 2021, DELVA Landscape Architecture / Urbanism – The iconic, high-quality architecture of Bjarke Ingels Group, is enhanced by the generous green roof terraces designed by DELVA. As stated by Het Financieele Dagblad, Holland’s most important business newspaper, to remain attractive, the Zuidas must become ‘friendlier, more diverse and greener’.

Scientific research shows having access to green outdoor spaces significantly increases employee well-being and productivity. To this end, planting is rapidly changing from a cost item to an economic revenue model. With the Terrace Tower and soon De Puls, DELVA is taking the lead in making the roofs on the Zuidas greener.

The terraces:
An inventive roof structure consisting of a basic substrate layer and 3D-printed pots for trees and shrubs. Grasses and perennials form a green carpet along and between the tiles. Smaller current trees in the centre are framed by larger birch, cherry and pine trees.

DELVA is led by its founder Steven Delva (BE), Emiel Swinnen (BE), Sander van den Bosch (NL) and Jeroen Jacobs (NL). Based in Amsterdam (NL), the team of landscape architects, urban planners, architects, designers and cultural technicians works on major current challenges such as sustainable urbanization, nature development and the changing role of the public domain. A multidisciplinary approach is central to this, which is characterized by co-creation and collaboration.
