What is architecture? How do architects work? And how do you yourself build architectural models, draw plan drawings and make imaginative collages? This book is for everybody who loves building, drawing and taking photos, and who would like to gain an understanding of the architecture surrounding us.

‘Build, draw and learn – with world-famous architects’ provides you with instructions to 10 different architectural exercises to do at home. Each exercise is connected to a piece of architecture and its architect. The exercises introduce you to how architects work with form, function, scale, composition, materials and much more.

About the authors
Malene Abildgaard (1979), Architect MAA, trained as an architect at the Aarhus School of Architecture, Denmark. Malene has worked several years with the dissemination of architecture for children and young people at the Utzon Centre and the Danish Architecture Centre, among other places. She is the architect behind ’attend architecture in your leisure time’, an extracurricular course for children and young people with an interest in the subject.

Julie Dufour (1967), Architect MAA, trained as an architect at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, school of Architecture, Denmark. Julie has wide experience working with the dissemination of architecture through workshops in Denmark and abroad. She teaches children and young people at the Danish Architecture Centre, the Children’s Culture House Ama’r, and Farum School of Art. In addition, she runs family workshops aimed at parents and children at numerous cultural institutions in Denmark.
