The casino re-opening in Ontario, Canada

Some Ontario casinos and charity gaming rooms celebrated the third step in the province’s re-opening plan, which took effect on July 17 this year, thanks to the announcement from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG).

Casinos that benefit from the Phase 3 re-opening include those located in the OLG’s Eastern Gaming Area. This includes casinos located in Kawartha, Peterborough, Thousand Islands and Belleville. Gaming venues in the North and Central zones also opened to the public on July 17. These include Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay, Sudbury, Orillia, Innisfil and Ottawa.

Here’s everything you need to know about the welcoming re-opening of the casino industry in Ontario.

The Importance of Canadian Casinos

In comparison to multiple other countries, Canada is one of the most dominant and diverse countries that offer both land-based and online gambling. Therefore, the re-opening of these casinos was a blessing for multiple players this year.

What a lot of people don’t know is that the best casino games are available in these casinos, thus giving players the chance to discover games that are live streamed in front of real tables with real-life dealers, or perhaps some innovative VR slots to immerse into a virtual gaming experience.

All these features and many more is what makes casinos a real treat in 2021, which especially concerns Slotwolf – go and check a Slotwolf casino review to know why. However, let’s have a closer look at what the re-opening of the land-based casinos meant.

The Desperate Re-Opening of Casinos

The majority of Canadian casinos and gaming halls were all closed since mid-March of 2020. And while long-term closures would have done nothing but take a heavy toll on operators and employees, the re-opening conditions in Phase 3 had their limits and adjustments.

Strict restrictions and conditions were enforced, including a limited number of occupants, rigorous deep cleaning procedures to be followed on a regular schedule, hand sanitizers available at all entrances and exits as well as in the gaming rooms, and even mandatory temperature checks and audits of patrons and staff members.

Gaming tables remained closed for a long time, which allowed players only to play at slot machines and go to on-site restaurants and eateries. That’s not all, the number of customers was also limited until recently to 50.

Operators Want to Cooperate

Canadian authorities and operators are no doubt trying to avoid a repeat of what happened in Las Vegas, when the re-openings triggered thousands of new infections. Many operators have already indicated that they will not be able to survive a second wave of closures, while many others are already struggling to stay afloat financially.

It would therefore be of no benefit to anyone to transgress the restrictions, as irresponsible behavior will only lead to further closures and even greater challenges in the future. The operators have all, for the most part, expressed their willingness to cooperate with the restrictions announced by the OLG and government health officials.

Several of them indicated that they have already shown initiative in implementing additional security measures to ensure the safety of their staff and clients once they open their doors.

The Casino Re-Opening in Ontario Conclusion

The Canadian gambling industry is no joke. This recent re-opening was an enormous step forwards to get things on the right track again and slowly, but surely, they are looking better than ever before.

Luckily, it’s not looking like there’s going to be another closure – mainly thanks to the vaccines and the responsible measurements taken by the casinos in Ontario and all other providences in Canada.

Let’s hope that the current health situation keeps improving, not only in Canada but on a global scale, and let’s have fun playing responsibly!
