Architecture in Luxembourg
We select what we feel are the most interesting examples of Luxembourg Architecture. We cover completed buildings, new building designs and architecture competitions across Luxembourg. The focus is on contemporary Luxembourg buildings but information on traditional buildings is also welcome.
We have 1 page of Luxembourg Architecture selections with links to hundreds of individual project pages.

BnL Bibliothèque Nationale de Luxembourg
Design: BOLLES+WILSON
model photograph © Tomasz Samek
The planned BnL, with its new and optimized program, addresses the Boulevard with an inviting, transparent and representative conical facade that metaphorically sucks visitors deep into the interior. Above the entrance and behind the inwardly sloping facade are conference rooms (bridging the entrance foyer). The interior unfolds as a landscape of reading terraces stepping up to a consultation deck, the top of five floors of secure archives, a magazine acropolis, the core of the building.

Lalux Corporate Headquarters, Leudelange
Design: Atelier d’Architecture et de Design Jim Clemes
photograph : www.rsfotografie.de, Schindler Fenster + Fassaden
The new “Lalux” building has 2,500 aluminium louvres installed at varying intervals in alternating shades of gold, brown and bronze lend the building envelope a memorable rhythm. It is this façade of lustrous, vertical elements, whose sinewy elegance evokes the image of ripening corn in a neighbouring field that lends the building its iconic look.

Beim Nessert Cultural and Community Centre, Bergem
Design: Bruck + Weckerle Architekten

Beim Nessert Cultural and Community Centre
A majestic walnut tree dominated the remaining free space on the plot. Bruck + Weckerle Architekten felt that this tree was such a feature of the village of Bergem that it deserved to be retained and displayed to its best advantage. They recognized the scope offered by this symbolic tree for creating a unique meeting point that would architecturally enrich the core of the village.

Luxembourg Apartment Building
Within the framework of our project, architecture and art are found side by side, are entangled, extend and complete each other in order to create a common language, a synergy which creates an intriguing, vivid and dynamic, yet at the same time intimate, welcoming and friendly ensemble. The reflection on the relation between art and architecture is part of the concept created with the involvement of the Luxembourgish artist SUMO.
